We
run an e-mailing list that is free for everyone to join. We
used to post 2 to 3 short messages on it each week but it
is now even less. They consist of Islamic material, news clippings,
announcements, and items of general interest. It will keep
you informed about all our activities and updates on events,
our publications and offers, tapes, CD and video availability
etc.
If
you would like to be added to it then please drop us a line
saying so at mail@jimas.org

If
your email address is not your personal one or belongs to
your work
then please familiarise yourself with your company Internet
use policy
and subscribing to external lists
or simply send us an alternative (personal/private) address.

The
list is not for general submissions from the readers.
We follow this policy for a number of reasons:
- We
cannot possibly honour all requests, so we avoid taking
requests from the people in general.
- This
protects us from being partial to anyone.
- It
saves us the effort of checking for unsuitable material.
- It
saves us the time and trouble of needing to explain and
perhaps get into discussions, which can be sour at times,
regarding why something is or is not suitable. We simply
do not have the time.
- We
do not send any attachments. Many people exchange emails
that contain non-plaintext material e.g., word documents,
images, PowerPoint and PDF files.
- We
do not have time to extract text and format them from non-plaintext
into flat files.
- Requests
are often time critical. Many people, and that includes
us, need to announce things late. We cannot guarantee we
can post material from others in time.
-
Posting material from others interferes with our own intended
volume of posts and what we would like to send out ourselves.
People have complained in the past about too many posts
and untimely posts. They detract from the effectiveness
of our own mails.
- The
need to preserve a certain standard and reputation about
our list. E.g., sometimes we are sent material to post that
we would like to broadcast but cannot due to the way they
are worded, polical preferences and reputation of certain
people. At other times we may get requests to distribute
material that do not agree with our aims and objectives.
Thus,
we welcome brothers and sisters informing us of events and
products but what we post entirely depends on our discretion.
Knowing this may help prevent misunderstanding insha`Allaah.
